Jawan[3] (transl. Soldier) is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film written and directed by Atlee (in his Hindi directorial debut). It stars Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role with Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani.[4][5] The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.[6]
Principal photography commenced in September 2021 with filming taking place in Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Rajasthan and Aurangabad. Jawan was initially planned to release on 2 June 2023, but was postponed due to post-production needing more work.[7] It is now scheduled for theatrical release on 7 September 2023, coinciding with Janmashtami.
